Fall Session I:  September 9 - October 19

Fall Session II:  October 28 - December 8

Class Registration:  Please register at least one week in advance of the class/workshop start date.  Classes/workshops with low enrollment will be closed 3 - 5 business days before the first class.  

Cancellation Policy:  A refund is given to students who cancel 10 days or more prior to the class start date.  Students who cancel enrollment within 10 days of the first class will not receive a refund.  

If a class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, registrants will be notified by email or phone within 24 – 48 hours of the first class. Registrants will be given the opportunity to transfer to another class or issued a refund.

Medium: Drawing

Principles of Illustration

Instructor: Tim Davis

6 Week Class starting Wednesday, September 11 (Fall Session I), 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Instruction Level: All skill levels, ages 12+

Tuition: $190 / $170 Members

Illustration is storytelling art. This class will work through the principles that make for strong, effective artwork that supports a narrative. Lessons will focus on the importance of characters, composition, line, color, sequential applications, and the business of freelance illustration.

Portraiture for Kids

Instructor: Terri McCord

6 Week Class starting Monday, October 28 (Fall Session II), 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Instruction Level:  Kids, ages 8 - 12

Tuition: $190 / $170 Members

Focus on painting, drawing and mixed media approaches to the creation of portraits, namely self-portraits. Hands-on approach to exploring facets of portrait-making and the power of learning proportion and measurement of the portrait. Even have fun looking at the skull! Class is open to all abilities who are eager to try.

Kids Intro to Drawing and Painting

Instructor: Laura Borgognoni

6 Week Class starting Thursday, September 12 (Fall Session I) & Thursday, October 31 (Fall Session II), 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Instruction Level: Kids ages 7 - 10

Tuition: $190 / $170 Members

This workshop/ course would function as a survey to various drawing and painting techniques. Although technique would be a focus in this course, self expression and creativity would partner alongside the foundations being implemented. All projects would seek to give students choice and leave room for students to incorporate personal content. Media included in this course would be: graphite, watercolor, acrylic, oil paint, colored pencil, nu’pastels and charcoal.

Visual Journaling for Teens 

Instructor: Laura Borgognoni

6 Week Class starting Monday, October 28 (Fall Session II), 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Instruction Level: Teens ages 12 - 18

Tuition: $190 / $170 Members

Students would begin this workshop/ course by using about 4-5 hours to construct their own visual journal. Construction includes a semi-hardback front/ cover and spine, assemblage of 40 pages of mixed media paper and design of front and cover. The remainder of the course/ workshop would utilize the visual journal with mixed media. I would like for students to use this time to see art as a process rather than a product. Journal prompts would act as reflections and mini lessons to allow students to explore various media to build off of, as well as build upon small technical skills. Some technical skills that would be expanded upon during this time would include: free flowing watercolor techniques, calligraphy, brief observational drawing and use of text. The ideal age for this course would be teens, ranging from 14-18.

Nuno Felting Merino Silk Scarf

1 Day Workshop: Saturday, September 14, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Instruction Level: All skill levels, ages 12+

Tuition: $120 (price includes supplies)

Nuno Felting Merino Silk Scarf  

Learn nuno felting with lightweight merino wool and silk.  Combining merino wool and silk together will create a nuno-felted scarf that is wearable during cold seasons and breathable in warmer months. Various color choices are available in red, orange, green, blue, brown, purple, gray & white. Students are also welcome to mix and blend different colors.  All basic felting materials and supplies are included. Please bring an old bath/beach towel.

Wet Felting FELT GEODE with Merino & Silk

Instructor: Cecilia Ho

1 Day Workshop: Saturday, September 21, 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Instruction Level:  All skill levels, ages 12+

Tuition: $105 (price includes supplies)

Learn needle felting and wet felting techniques to create a felted geode inspired by rocks and minerals.  Step by step instruction will include how to blend, mix and needle felt with colorful merino wool fibers and silk.  Your finished piece will be a unique handmade wool felt fabric to use as table mat or hang up as wall art.  All basic felting materials and supplies are included in tuition. Please bring an old bath/beach towel.

Needle Felted Gourds

Instructor: Sarah Mandell

1 Day Workshop: Saturday, September 28, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Instruction Level: All skill levels, ages 10+

Tuition: $75 (price includes supplies)

Learn how to sculpt colorful wool fiber into a set of gourds. A demonstration of needle felting techniques, shaping, layering fiber, blending colors, and an overview of felting tools will equip students, ages 10 and up, to be able to turn wool roving into 3D objects. Supplies will be provided and include several ounces of dyed wool roving, felting needles, and foam felting pads. Students will have the opportunity to purchase additional felting supplies at the end of the class to take home if they wish.

Hand Pieced Quilts: Thousand Pyramids

Instructor: Debbie Moyes

1 Day Workshop: Saturday, October 5, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Instruction Level: All skill levels, ages 14+

Tuition: $75 (price includes supplies)

Learn to hand sew this one-block quilt design to begin a pillow, table runner or even a quilt. Thousand Pyramids is a scrap or one-block quilt pattern, made by women long ago with whatever fabrics they had left over from other sewing projects. This classic design, made up of equilateral triangles, continues to popular because of its geometric look and design versatility. Students will learn about basic quilting supplies and techniques while beginning their own version of this pattern. Choose fabrics to make the quilt look modern or antique from the instructor’s stash.

Needle Felted Owls

Fall Season Wool Painting

Instructor: Cecilia Ho

1 Day Workshop: Sunday, October 20, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Instruction Level: All skill levels, ages 7+

Tuition: $75 (price includes supplies)

Wool can be transformed into a painterly image using a few simple felting techniques.  Learn how to blend and mix various shades of colorful wool fiber to achieve a wool painting in the fall theme of your choosing.  Your wool painting can be framed in a shadow box or sewn onto any textile material.  All basic felting materials and supplies are included in tuition.  Optional: Bring a photo or 11x8 image printout from smartphone/tablet for inspiration.

Wool Applique' - Penny Runner

1 Day Workshop:  Saturday, November 16, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Instruction Level:  All skill levels, ages 14+

Tuition: $75 (price includes supplies)

Sometimes referred to as coin, button or money rugs, women used these common items to trace around bits of wool to make decorative mats. Choose from beautiful hand dyed wools and craft a runner, mat or pillow to brighten your home. You will learn to hand appliqué these circles with colorful threads and how to add decorative stitches, buttons or beads to embellish the simple shapes. Come and create your own piece of folk art!

Needle Felt Mini Masterpiece

1 Day Workshop:  Saturday, November 23, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Instruction Level: All skill levels, ages 12+

Tuition: $75 (price includes supplies)

Wool can be transformed into a painterly image using a few simple felting techniques.  In this workshop you will be guided to re-create a masterpiece by painters like Van Gogh, Monet, and Klimpt in wool.  Learn how to blend and mix various shades of colorful wool fiber to achieve a beautiful wool painting.  All basic felting materials and supplies are included in tuition.

Christmas Needle Felting

1 Day Workshop:  Saturday, December 7, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Instruction Level:  All skill levels, ages 12+

Tuition: $75 (price includes supplies)

Learn to custom needle felt a 2D Christmas stocking or Santa hat or 3D wool ornament.  Step by step instruction will help you create a festive design with wool.  All basic felting materials and supplies are included in tuition. No experience necessary. Open to age 7+

Fiber: Brush, Blend & Spin

Instructor: Dia Robinson

1 Day Workshop: Saturday, December 14, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Instruction Level:  All skill levels, ages 14+

Tuition: $120 (price includes supplies)

Using a drop spindle to spin fiber into yarn is a textile technique that dates back thousands of years.  In this workshop participants will learn how to use the drop spindle while making their own one-of-a-kind yarn by blending and mixing fibers.  Instruction will include the history of the drop spindle, different types of drop spindles, and how to use the drop spindle.  Students will be given the opportunity to practice using a drop spindle, mixing various fibers to create rolags (rolls of woolen fiber) and then spin them into yarn. Students will leave the course with at least 2oz of yarn that they created, which can be used for any crochet, knitting, weaving, and needle felting project.
